As parents, we always want to give our kids the upmost advantage in life. As dentists, we believe this should begin with their oral health. Great oral hygiene will set your child up for not only great oral health in the future, but great overall health as well. Here are our 4 dental hygiene tips to teach your children:

1.Start early!

Even when your child is an infant, it is important to get them used to having a brush in their mouth. Purchase a toothbrush for infants, and make sure your baby gets accustomed to having you put it in their mouth I don’t early age. Especially when your child begins teething, using the brush to massage the gums will not only soothe them, but will also aid in familiarity with brushing.

2. Do it daily.

Many of us know that children should brush their teeth once in the morning and once at night, just like adults do. But showing your children the importance of brushing their teeth in their morning routine will in sure that even when you are not there to supervise, they will find this an important step in there morning and night processes as well.

3. Make a dentist appointment.

At the earliest sign of teeth, your child should see a dentist to make sure all of the teeth are coming in correctly, and have your dentist lookout for any potential issues that can be caught at an early stage. Your dentist can also suggest certain brushes, toothpaste, and other oral hygiene tips, that will help with a child with allergies or intolerances.
